Research Interest & Projects My PhD titled "Sovereign Hospitalities: liberal democracies economies of violence toward its "others"" explored the relationship between sovereignty and hospitality and its effects for minority groups in Australia, especially refugees and Indigenous peoples. It brought together the diverse methodologies of critical race and whiteness studies and Derridean Deconstruction.

Current Projects:
* I am currently working on developing out of my thesis, papers on Indigenous land rights, the NT intervention and the response to Swine Flu in NT and Palm Island communities.
* Contemporary Migration issues: biomedical scares, the global crisis and climate change.
* I am developing a proposal to look at the impact of the global economic crisis on housing availability and affordability for minority groups in the US and Australian Context.

My philosophical background is poststructuralist with a particular interest in Jacques Derrida's work, Judith Butler, Agamben and Foucault. I am intetrested in reading Hannah Arendt in more detail.
