The major CSAA event is its annual conference. Previous CSAA conferences have explored Ute Culture in Melbourne, Everyday Transformations in Perth, On the Beach in Brisbane, Culture Incorporated in Christchurch, What’s Left of Theory? in Hobart, Culture Fix in Sydney, Unaustralia in Canberra, and the Scholarly Affair in Byron Bay. In other words, the conference is a themed event, and is held in a different city each year. The attempt to locate one’s research in relation to another’s theme, and the general disorientation that travel induces, can have powerfully interpellative, disruptive and creative outcomes. As the premiere event for the CSAA, the Annual Conference is not to be missed.
In conjunction with the Annual Conference, the various CSAA state chapters hold regular events, including symposia and social nights. For further detail, or to assist in organising a local event, be sure to regularly check the ‘News’ blog and contact your State Representative via the ‘Executive and Contacts’ list. The CSAA is built on involvement and engagement by its members; we actively encourage you to be a part of these events.
